Manchester Kampus Illumination with Festoon Lighting

Kampus is a £250 million new garden neighbourhood in Manchester city centre. Once home to Manchester Metropolitan University, the site has been transformed into apartments secret streets, gardens and terraces, restaurants and bars.

Our technical lighting team, headed up by Alex Darling, was contacted by the provider of the lighting in Manchester. The project was not in their usual remit so they needed our technical advice and help with the design.

The requirement was for a range of festoon and tree lighting solutions to be used around the Kampus streets and gardens.

Alex designed a bespoke system for them, using high-quality exterior rated rubber festoon and fairy lights. A team of two people from Essential Supplies then travelled to Manchester to install the system.

The finished effect gave ambient lighting to the secret pathways throughout Kampus and helped complete the effect wanted by the client.

We received the following feedback from our customer:

“I would just like to let you know what a great team you sent up to install this project. Alex and Ash have created a really fantastic installation, despite the challenges that the site and site condition posed us at. I have thanked Alex, but would appreciate if you could reinforce my appreciation of his and Ash’s effort.”
