FBT Vertus CS1000 Portable Active Sub/Sat System

Product Description:

Created as a no-compromise choice for both live performers and installers, the VERTUS CS1000 compact line array combines maximum performance with a modular, scalable approach. Its lightweight but sturdy construction blended with FBT’s distinctive engineering and elegance has delivered a system that can be deployed on stage within minutes, or discreetly integrated into the most delicate of decors to provide high-quality sound and controlled directivity.

A bi-amplified design, the system comprises a long excursion 12” bass reflex subwoofer and a passive mounted satellite, linked via a Neutrik SPEAKON connector and equipped with six full-range neodymium 3” drivers. Onboard the subwoofer is a Class-D, two channel amplifier, complete with switch-mode power supply, delivering 600W RMS to the subwoofer and 400W RMS to the satellite, both of which are housed in birch plywood enclosures. For ease of use, a storage compartment is provided within the subwoofer enclosure to securely house both the satellite speaker and its supplied mounting pole for storage and transport. A dedicated locking system holds all of the equipment in place.

As with all FBT products, graceful but effective engineering is at the heart of the VERTUS CS1000, as exemplified by the mounting pole. Comprised of three sections, the pole allows users to alter the height of the satellite to suit their requirements, while a custom joint provides continuous vertical adjustment to ensure precise coverage in every venue. No listener is left untouched by the VERTUS CS1000 – the slim proportions of the satellite facilitate a wide horizontal dispersion of 110°, while the precision placement of the six 3” drivers to form a J-array creates a vertical dispersion of 30° (+10° / -20°).

Need more power? The VERTUS CS1000 takes a modular approach in that two systems can be used in a dual configuration to form a totally coherent and much more powerful solution. By stacking the two subwoofers and locking the two satellites together end-to-end (via optional hardware), the maximum SPL of the overall system is raised by 6dB. Coverage is also extended – although the horizontal dispersion remains consistent, vertical dispersion increases to 40° (+20° / -20°)

Other features ensure ease of use and a rugged build quality. The subwoofer is equipped with aluminum handles complete with a rubber insert to guarantee a comfortable grip – transporting the entire system, including the subwoofer, satellite, mounting pole, joint and all cables, is both convenient and comfortable. The fanless amplifier module is protected by diecast aluminum, while onboard DSP offers a choice of eight dedicated presets, each one shaped by FBT’s long experience in creating proprietary algorithms to suit every requirement.

Features Include:

  • 2-way speaker system

Ventis 206A

The Ventis 206A is an extraordinary active speaker featuring a pair of 6.5 low frequency woofers and a 1 B&C high frequency compression driver arranged in a vertical configuration. Its a great sounding, solid box made out of 15mm birch ply finished in a scratch-resistant paint and features a full-face grille. At just 12kg, its incredibly easy to move around using the integrated handle on the back. It also features a number of M10 suspension points, so its perfect for permanent installation, as well as a 35mm top-hat underneath for mounting on the included sub pole or a standalone tripod.

Around the back youll find the amp module that almost spans the entire width of the cabinet and offers 700W RMS of low frequency amplification and 200W RMS of high frequency. As with the rest of the Ventis range, the LF is Class D while the HF is Class H/AB.

Power is delivered by a powerCON TRUE1 connector and an AC loop out is also included so you can daisy-chain the power for another cabinet.

Input-wise, the Ventis 206A offers a single XLR / ¼-inch jack combi socket that can accept both a LINE or MIC level signal and a pair of RCA phono connections to allow, for example, an external MP3 player to be directly connected. Both inputs have a dedicated level control, which means that a mic and background music source can be connected and mixed without the need for a separate mixer. An XLR output socket is also provided to allow the audio signal to loop out to another cabinet.

The built-in DSP accessed via a large backlit LCD display and corresponding turn-and-push control dial allows you to fine-tune the sound to your own liking. It also allows you to dial-in a delay (0-10 metres), which is very useful for conference work, as well as a Hi-Pass filter. This means that you can either run the box full-range, so its useful as a discreet cabinet for wedding ceremonies or speeches, or allow it to concentrate all of its power on the hi/mid frequencies when you have the sub connected.

SUBline 112SA

The Subline 112SA active cabinet has been called "a work of genius" in reviews (ProMobile) The band-pass design of its predecessor, the 12SA, has been updated to a more traditional bass-reflex configuration, resulting in a smaller and lighter cabinet. Some would argue that a front-firing box like this really needs to be a lot bigger, with chunky drivers, in order to get really low, but thats certainly not the case with the amazing 112SA.

The 112SA is built around a 12 woofer with a 2.5 coil, offering a huge amount of punch and high SPL from an incredibly compact design. The amp module offers 700W RMS and has a built-in DSP with eight different pre-sets. You also get an 8-step delay control and a Phase push button.

Two XLR input sockets (a stereo pair) are provided alongside corresponding outputs and a push button to activate or bypass the variable High Pass filter. This means that, for smaller gigs, you can run the VN2000 as a 3-box system with your mixer connected to a single sub feeding the two top boxes in stereo.

Looks wise, the sub matches the 206A perfectly, with its birch-ply cabinet finished in the same scratch-resistant paint and full-face grille. Two ergonomic handles on the side make it easy to lift and, at just 23kg, it really IS an easy lift!

The VN2000 is perfect for, conference work, ceremonies, speeches and events making it a perfect mobile DJ system.
