The Brief

Iscoyd Park invited Essential Supplies to view their longstanding wedding marquee. The linings were being replaced and so the owners were looking for a fresh look to the venue, with modern flexible lighting, that could be easily tuned to suit their clients different requirements. The lighting solution would need to be classical, but also have the ability to transform the venue at the touch of a button.

Iscoyd Park is not an average wedding venue, they are market leaders and set very high standards which their clients appreciate.

Attached to the main house is the marquee used for weddings.

Essential Supplies designed and installed a bespoke state-of-the-art lighting system with an easy-to-use control system that could be could be operated by any member of staff with ease.

The original lighting rig had been set up and added to over the years with some basic pinspot lights, wall lights and chandeliers which illuminated the room well but there was potential for enhancement. The control was hard to follow, the wiring and rigging to the marquee frame was not up to standard.

Following a site visit, our designer Simon James worked with the team at Iscoyd Park on a plan that would introduce style, colour and flexibility as well as a system that was easy to use for the venue team. The outcome was spectacular, and the feedback was great!

The Bespoke Lighting System

Firstly, we choose to use our Luna Par 60 Watt, RGBW cob LEDs, that create super smooth but vivid colours or subtle pastels, making them the perfect choice for a wedding marquee. These Par LED Lights have a 90° beam angle which washed light and colour across the roof linings or through the crystal chandeliers. The fixtures are only available in black, so we stripped down each fixture, had them powder coated in white and the re-built them. The truss was also re-finished with white powder coating to keep the whole rigg looking perfect.

We also installed our DRX1 15w, Robotic Pin Spots with remote control . These lights are compact so they look neat but still deliver 880 lumens with a 6° Beam Optic in a 3000k warm white which can be focused onto table centres, flowers, cakes, bars or even wall pictures.

The real advantage to these pinspots is they have ability to remotely control the Pan & Tilt of each fixture. When the marquee room needed to be changed, adding or removing tables, the remote function allowed for the lights to be repositioned also without having to climb a ladder. Ingenious!

All you need is a pocket remote control

Complementing these were our new DRX1 15w Pin Spot Banks. Compact in design yet formidable in performance, they cast a luminous 880 lumens and a sharp 6° Optic Beam. Their pièce de resistance, a remote-controlled Pan & Tilt mechanism allowed for adaptability. When the marquee room needed to be changed, adding or moving tables around the room, the remote enabled effortless repositioning without the cumbersome need for a ladder. A true testament to ingenuity!

Lighting Control

To control the lights during the evening events, we installed our Anyscene 2 Lighting Memory Control Unit, which we programmed from a the Colour Cue 3 Lighting Desk to record 23 different scenes. The rig was pre -programming by us to set scenes that the customer can chose from or easily change at the push of a button. The venue can now change its look completely in terms of colour, brightness and focus of the spot lights, its amazing & great fun. All the staff love it.

Rigging

To support the lights and clients flower arrangements we installed 5 lengths of Metalworx 3m Triangular truss which was also finished in white. The truss needed to be suspended from the marquee roof apex so the triangle look sat nicely between the linings and the powder coated white paint allowed the truss to blend in with the roof. The entire truss was rigged using our Essential Supplies Cader clamps. As well as other standard rigging items such as hang clamps and safety wires.

Conclusion

The lighting has transformed this marquee into something magical - it's warmth, colour, and highlights create an atmosphere like no other. The walls are awash with colour, the ceiling twinkling with soft warm starry lights, the chandeliers were bathed blue and mauve and the pins spot highlighted features that caught the eye. Best of all the customers and staff all love to try out some of the different variations available to them Mission accomplished!
